It is a wonderful thing that the Kitchen at Bridge Bread Bakery is being cooled by the high efficiency heat pump HVAC we were able to purchase in 2024 with the proceeds of our 2023 Gala fundraiser. Thank you!
Even with careful attention to heat gain, the weather and Ameren's rate increase have led to a shocking electric bill of about $3,000. We have also experienced increases in the cost of ingredients and insurance.
We can manage it with ongoing product sales and donations over the long term, but our July donations from individuals are way, way down from what we need in the short term. We have also invested in a Loop Bakery Manager and a Director of Development, and they provide the base for all the expansion we have underway.
This expansion will make it possible for us to provide restorative employment, stable housing assistance, and even a start on economic mobility for many more Bakers! But we need to get through this cash-flow challenge and still have funds in time to meet our obligations.
